Your chosen web address belongs to you, not your website developer.

SIX SMALL STEPS

From choosing a name to going live.

We guide you through this process in plain English. You do not need to understand DNS before getting started.

1

Choose a domain

Think of something short and easy to spell, such as yourbusiness.co.uk. Check that it does not infringe another business name or trade mark.

2

Buy it yourself

Choose a reputable registrar and purchase the domain using your own email address and your business or personal registration details. Keep the renewal reminder and recovery email in your control.

3

Tell us where it is registered

Send Bramlo only the domain name and the company you used to buy it. You do not need to send the account password.

4

Connect it safely

We will tell you the DNS records or nameserver settings required for the site. Some registrars offer limited-access invitations; otherwise we can talk you through entering the records yourself.

5

Check business email first

If you already have email at that domain, we check the current MX, SPF, DKIM and related records before changing DNS. This is important to avoid interrupting your email.

6

Launch and test

Once DNS changes propagate, we test HTTPS, the www and non-www addresses, mobile layout, contact form and any existing email routing.

ALREADY HAVE A DOMAIN?

That’s absolutely fine.

Tell us your domain provider and we’ll choose the safest way to connect it.

Cloudflare

Cloudflare supports adding members to an account, with permissions you can control. If appropriate, invite Bramlo using the account membership settings and only the access needed for your domain. For Cloudflare Pages we’ll also confirm whether DNS and nameserver changes are required.

We’ll give you current provider-specific instructions rather than ask you to guess which permissions to tick.

GoDaddy, Fasthosts or other registrars

We’ll identify where to find DNS settings and explain exactly which records to create. If safe delegated access is not available, we can guide you through doing it yourself over a call.

If the domain handles business email, we will check the existing records before suggesting any nameserver changes.

DOMAIN QUESTIONS

A few useful things to know.

Do I have to buy a domain from Bramlo?+

No. You purchase the domain from your chosen registrar, in your own name. Bramlo helps with the connection.

Will Bramlo need my password?+

No. Please never email us your passwords. Where possible we use limited account invitations or guide you through the settings yourself.

What happens if I stop subscribing?+

You retain your domain. Managed website hosting is separate, and site handover terms need to be agreed before you start paying.

How long does connecting a domain take?+

The configuration can be quick, but DNS changes may take time to propagate. We’ll check the actual connection and HTTPS before confirming the site is live.
